It reminds me of the sea.

Having a Japanese grandfather, I grew up learning about the art of Kintsugi. You see, things break, but in Japanese culture, when pottery breaks, it is painstakingly put back together using centuries old techniques. The restored item is fused together with gold and cherished as a piece of art. It is no longer one of 10 plates; it is now completely original.

While I am not skilled in the true art of Kintsugi, I channeled the design elements to craft this saucer back together. I then painted an original oil painting to be framed by the broken pieces. Art within art.

This piece has a diameter of approximately 6.75”.

Each edition has been fused back together with epoxy and comes with a hanging device (a display hanger, a hook, etc) so that it can be displayed beautifully. Each is an original and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
